BOOSTERS
(Single Phase to Three Phase Converters) :

Three-phase power is not always available. To keep cost down, often only one phase is fed from a street transformer to a house. There are two options, if an industrial machine has to be connected. Installation cost for three-phase power lines may be high. Single to three- phase Boosters are another good solution. Boosters convert single phase 220V, 230V or 240V into three phase 380V, 400V or 415V.

TECHNICAL DETAILS.

SELECTING SINGLE PHASE TO THREE PHASE BOOSTER.

BOOSTER: Standard converters for multi-motor applications. Motors will produce 100% nameplate torque
continuously, up to 200% during start-up or excessive loads. One output socket.

BOOSTER E: High performance converters for all single and multi-motor applications and all hard-start conditions. Motors will produce 100% of nameplate torque continuously and up to 600% during motor start-ups and excessive loads. Two output sockets. For all motor start-stop, reverse, hard-start conditions (metal lathes, wheel balancers, irrigation pumps, conveyors, elevators, refrigeration systems, compressors, deep submersible pumps, hydraulic systems...).

Input voltage is 1x 220-240V, output voltage is 3x 380-415V.

Booster single-phase to three-phase converters

Single to three-phase converters are available for more applications and for a wider power range:

The standard converter for all workshop and farm applications is a Booster.
A Booster can ran one or many motors, a complex machine, variable speed drives or welders.

With a Booster E, motors will reach full speed in the shortest possible time.
A Booster E converter is capable of starting motors under load.
It also copes well with the most difficult applications:
Metal lathes without clutches, hydraulic systems, Refrigeration units, all types of compressors.
A Booster E will cope with start-stop operation, with forward-reverse and with all pumps.
It will operate chillers, cranes, conveyors and lifts under load.

Many Boosters are used in workshops (woodworking, metalworking) and on farms.
They are available in sizes up to 64kW (87hp).

If your application is just one simple machine or one induction motor, an Eco is a low cost solution.
Ecos are available for motors between 2 kW and 8 kW (3hp to 11hp).
With an Eco, the maximum continuous motor torque is limited to 70% of the motors capability.

Booster and Eco converters are maintenance-free. Internal motor-generators are brushless.
Bearings are greased for lifetime. Efficiency of a Booster or an Eco is about 96%.

Line disturbances, over- or undervoltage conditions or short circuits do not influence the operation.
Nor does a Booster produce any disturbance. Switching is performed at zero volt crossings.

Boosters are EMC tested and have New Zealand and Australian tick-mark.
Boosters have no mechanical switches. The warranty period is three years.

Boosters can operate welders: Choose a Booster (not a Booster E) with the size 50% larger than actually needed.

The standard input voltage is 230V single-phase, the standard output voltage is 3x 400V.
Other available input voltages are 400V two phase and 460V split phase.

Output frequency is always as input frequency: 50 Hz.

Installation instructions and a service schematics are provided with each Booster and Eco converter.

Boosters and hard-starts
For all machines in workshops or on farms, Boosters convert household voltages into three- phase industrial power. A Booster is a standard workshop device, a Booster E will also cope with hard-starting machines and motors.

During motor start-ups, currents for a short moment rise to about 600% of the motors nameplate currents. This is normal, and motor rated fuses and cables cope well with this situation.

When motors start under load, or when excessive load is applied to a motor, high amounts of energy has to supplied for longer period of time. Only a Booster E will generate these currents.

A Booster E can handle start-stop modes, motor reverse mode, motors under excessive loads and motors accelerating inertia. They operate refrigeration systems, compressors, deep submersible pumps, irrigation systems and fast turning metal lathes with heavy chucks.
